Churro Waffles

Parmesan-Crumbed Lamb Cutlets

  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter melted (or unsalted with a pinch of salt)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • whipped cream or ice cream for serving
  • warm chocolate sauce Dulce de Leche or maple syrup, for serving

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, 6 tablespoons melted unsalted butter, vanilla and brown sugar. Add the flour, baking powder and salt and stir until just combined. It’s OK if the batter is a little lumpy. Allow the batter to sit 5-10 minutes.

Preheat your waffle iron.

Cook the waffles according to your waffle iron’s directions. I like to slightly undercook my waffles so they are super soft in the center. (Follow below for AGA compatibility)

In a shallow, low bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar. Brush each warm waffle generously with the 8 tablespoons melted butter and then dip through the cinnamon sugar. Repeat with the remaining waffles.

Serve your waffles warm topped with butter, whipped cream and drizzled with maple syrup…or your choice of sweet toppings (chocolate sauce, Dulce de Lech, ice cream)!

2/3. Heat the waffle iron on the floor of the AGA Roasting Oven for about 10 minutes. Add the dough and cook turning once on the floor of the Roasting Oven for 5 minutes.

Notes – by AGA Living UK

The floor of the AGA Roasting Oven is super hot and great for crisping pastry, roasting potatoes and making waffle – anything that requires a hot direct heat. It’s also great for baking bread too. By melting chocolate for the topping of the waffle on the back of the top plate, the gentle direct heat will melt the chocolate beautifully. Chocolate never seizes when melted like this.
